AMMAN — Interior Minister Mazen Faraya on Sunday said that the number of people who have returned to their residences since the adoption of the Tribal Jalwa Control paper on September 29 has reached 1,273, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Faraya added that administrators were instructed to take all the necessary administrative measures regarding the implementation of the provisions stipulated in the paper, in order to achieve the desired goals and preserve security and community peace.

Eight tribal issues, which occurred after the adoption of the paper, were tackled, the minister said.

The minister also stressed that future plans will be implemented to raise awareness about the practice of jalwa through media, direct communication with administrators, sheikhs, dignitaries, influencers, civil society institutions and parties.

Jalwa is a tribal tradition, which may entail the eviction of an entire family and the forced relocation of a clan if one of its members murders that of another’s.
