Abu Hassan visits homes for the elderly

AMMAN — There are 328 elderly people residing in care centres in Jordan, nine of which are private homes for the elderly, according to official figures.
The Ministry of Social Development covers the expenses of caring for 136 of the 328.
Minister of Social Development Reem Abu Hassan on Saturday visited three local homes for the elderly and reiterated the importance of presenting the best services for residents.
Abu Hassan also presented financial assistance to the centres.
The ministry has signed agreements with the three centres to pay JD260 per month to cover the stay of senior citizens who cannot pay residence fees.
