AMMAN — The Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI), alongside the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, with funding from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), has launched wellness cluster technical project.

According to an ACI statement on Thursday, cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, the project aims to help Dead Sea cosmetics and skin care products in Jordan by supporting scientific research on the medical benefits of Dead Sea cosmetic items, product development and a package of promotional efforts and activities.

The project includes study tours and attendance at trade and promotional exhibitions for domestic health tourism to highlight the importance of Dead Sea products.

ACI CEO Nael Hussami referred to supporting development and promotion of Dead Sea products as an opportunity to diversify exports and create more job opportunities for Jordanians in production and marketing.

Hussami also expressed appreciation to JICA for its support of this "important" industry and medical tourism in Jordan.

Wakui Junji, JICA chief representative in Jordan,  said the project aims to open new markets for Dead Sea products in Southeast Asia and the Far East and attract tourists from these countries to Jordan.

Junji referred to the growth witnessed by the global recovery and tourism industry and the possibility of Jordanian products and services obtaining an "important" market share in this growing industry.
