AMMAN — The Public Security Directorate (PSD) on Monday confirmed continuing raids on drug houses in the Kingdom, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The PSD spokesperson revealed the details of a prominent case of thwarting an attempt to produce crystal meth in the Kingdom.

He noted that investigation teams in the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) followed up on a tip-off that a suspect was in possession of unspecified quantities of chemicals intended for manufacturing narcotics in his household east of Amman.

The house was then raided, and large quantities of chemicals were seized, the spokesperson added.

The suspect was not found at the time, but was arrested after tracing his location.

The suspect, who confessed to working with another accomplice, was arrested prior to producing any narcotics, the PSD spokesperson said.

A team raided the residence of the suspect’s partner, who was found, along with a third accomplice, in possession of narcotic pills and crystal meth.

In another case west of Balqa, a chalet was raided where a suspect was arrested after trying to smuggle marijuana, crystal meth and a firearm.

The media spokesperson added that a suspected drug dealer, along with his partner, were arrested in Zarqa after selling narcotic substances.

A total of seven palm-sized sheets of hashish and unspecified quantities of crystal meth were seized.

In a fourth case, two drug dealers were arrested on the road between Mafraq and Zarqa governorates after intelligence confirmed that they had transported unspecified quantities of narcotics. Two pistols, 1,000 Captagon pills and an unspecified quantity of crystal narcotic were seized.

The media spokesperson pointed out that AND is bolstered by all forms of operational and logistical support and continues its work, and that the PSD continues its security work, and that the health, safety and security of the homeland and citizens are above all considerations.
