AMMAN — Interior Minister Salameh Hammad on Monday said the draft amendments to the Anti-Terrorism Law are a warning to every terrorist. The minister said they are aimed at showing that Jordan will remain strong and safe, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Hammad said Jordan is a target for khawarij (outlaws of Islam) and surrounded by turmoil, which requires immediate and deterrent measures.
On Sunday, the government approved the mandating reasons to amend two articles in the Anti-Terrorism Law, giving security agencies legal tools to use force to arrest terror suspects and allowing provincial governors to issue arrest warrants to detain them.
