AMMAN — Anti-Vagrancy Department personnel on Wednesday said they picked up a minor who was selling chewing gum at a traffic light in the Khalda region of Amman and placed him in a shelter in Madaba, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The boy’s father reportedly possessed three “modern” cars, two of which were operating as taxis in Amman, Director of the Anti-Vagrancy Department Maher Kloub said on Thursday.

Ministry of Social Development Spokesperson Ashraf Khreis said that panhandling takes various forms, practices and methods to garner the sympathies of the public for money.
