AMMAN — The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) has called for involving the local community in efforts to sustain marine and coastal environment.

Delivering an address at the opening of the Aqaba International Conference on Marine and Coastal Environment on Monday, ASEZA Chief Commissioner Kamel Mahadin said the authority is working to ensure the safety and cleanliness of Aqaba’s shores, according to an ASEZA statement.

The conference, which gathers 100 international academics specialised in marine and coastal environments, is organised by ASEZA and the University of Jordan’s Aqaba branch.
