AMMAN — The Social Development Ministry’s anti-vagrancy department detained 120 beggars across the Kingdom since the beginning of Ramadan, 96 of whom were in Amman, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Maher Kloub, head of the ministry’s anti-vagrancy department, warned citizens not to deal with them nor give them money, especially in Ramadan, in order not to encourage the behaviour.

He called on people to donate to the Zakat Fund, which is designated for the poor and impoverished.
