AMMAN — West Amman Prosecutor General Amer Qudah on Monday issued a gag order restricting the publication of any news related to the case involving the attack on Zaid Fayez, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

In the decision, Qudah said that all news related to the case of Zaid Fayez, 35, shall be restricted from publication, stressing that whoever publishes or republishes related news will be subject to legal liability.

Also on Monday, a security source said that a special investigation team from the capital's Security Department on Saturday started investigating the Fayez case which saw him being attacked by a group of people on the street near the Jaber Complex in west Amman.

The team identified eight suspects allegedly involved in the attack, five of whom were arrested and investigated, while search is still ongoing for the other three, the source was  quoted by Petra as saying.

The source added that investigation in the incident and all other accompanying events will continue until all legal procedures finish and the case is referred to court.

The source also warned against circulating any recordings or videos related to the attack, stressing any document will be under legal liability and called on the public to abide by the law.

The source urged citizens to bear their social responsibilities in such cases and not to circulate any misleading and unverified news, whose only aim is "to distort the truth and create social problems".
