Brazilians in Jordan vote in favour of Haddad

AMMAN — A majority of Brazilians living in Jordan cast their votes in favour of candidate Fernando Haddad in Brazil’s first-round presidential elections on Sunday, according to Ambassador Francisco Carlos Soares Luz.

The ambassador said on Monday that out of a total of 404 valid votes cast at the embassy in Amman, 221 were in favour of leftist Haddad while 99 were in favour of former army captain Jair Bolsonaro.

In percentage terms, Haddad garnered around 55 per cent of the Amman votes, with Bosonaro getting around 25 per cent of the votes. In Brazil, 46 per cent of the votes were in favour of Bolsonaro as opposed to 29 per cent for Haddad.

The two will face off in the second round of voting on October 28. The Brazilian embassy in Amman opened a polling centre in Amman to enable Brazilian nationals to take part in the election.
