Celebratory gunfire injures 12, man apprehended

AMMAN — The Preventive Security Department (PSD) has arrested a man who injured 12 people when he opened fire during a celebration in Rusaifa on Saturday.
A Public Security Department statement on Sunday noted that the shooting was an incident of festive firing and that 12 people, eight of whom were children, were transferred to the hospital and reported to be in fair condition, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The statement also noted that a PSD team had launched an investigation to identify and arrest the shooter who disappeared after the incident, adding that he surrendered after the police located his whereabouts.
The shooter's gun was confiscated and the police have begun questioning him, according to the statement.
