Child in viral assault video identified as Jordanian — Foreign Ministry

AMMAN — Investigation has revealed that the child, who appeared in a video that went viral on social media purportedly showing the infant being beaten by a man, is Jordanian, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Sunday.

After the emergence of the video, the Jordanian embassy in Ankara immediately contacted Turkish authorities. They arrested the culprit, who is currently under investigation, the head of the Foreign Ministry’s Operations Centre Sufian Qudah said in the statement.

The embassy has contacted the child’s family to provide support, the ministry’s statement added.
