AMMAN — The Baptism Site Commission, in cooperation with the Department of Antiquities (DoA), on Tuesday held a meeting with representatives of Christian denominations in the Kingdom, focusing on the site’s preservation, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Attendees of the session, which was held at the DoA in the presence of Tourism Minister Lina Annab, assessed the impact of building new churches in the Baptism Site.

The site was listed in 2015 as a world heritage site by UNESCO. Annab said the session aimed at listening to the views of Christians in Jordan, stressing the support to meet the needs of each church in line with UNESCO’s regulations on establishing buildings.
