Consumer society urges families to make traditional sweets at home

AMMAN — The Consumer Protection Society (CPS) on Sunday urged families to make traditional desserts at home instead of buying them from sweets shops and bakeries.

CPS President Mohammad Obeidat said the society has been receiving many complaints on the quality of traditional sweets sold in the local market, especially knafeh, in addition to their unjustified high prices.

Traditional sweets have become a burden on the budget of Jordanian families, and the majority cannot afford it, Obeidat added.

Sweets made at home are healthier and more cost effective than what the market has to offer, he said.
