AMMAN — Northern Region Preventive Security Department officers have seized large quantities of counterfeit olive oil in two locations before the product was sold to consumers, the Public Security Department said Thursday.
The first case was registered in Jerash, where the suspect added chemical materials to vegetable oils to give them the same colour, flavour and smell of genuine olive oil and had planned to sell the product below the market price.
Security personnel raided the location and seized 10 tonnes of the product.
The second case was registered in Irbid, where the suspect used the same techniques.
The officers detained the two suspects and referred them to court.
