AMMAN — Al Rai’s Media Training Centre on Monday concluded a course on investing in social media and combatting fake news, organised with the support of the Jordan Commercial Bank.

The course hosted 20 participants from both public and private sector institutions.

Jordan Press Foundation (JPF) Chairman of the Board Ayman Majali said the JPF is in the midst of implementing a plan to develop its media content and its role in shaping public opinion, in addition to communicating with audiences and connecting with private and public institutions to implement programmes that enhance the media’s role in society.

Majali said the training centre is “open to all”, adding that the JPF seeks to build various new partnerships with the private and public sectors to hold more courses.

Majali added that Al Rai is working to diversify communication channels together with its audience through developing its website, operating its training centre, launching its broadcast, in addition to developing the content of its newspaper.

As part of its international training partnerships, the JPF will give participants who excel at courses the chance to join its personnel in attending training courses held at foreign universities.

The three-day course focused on the potential of social media platforms, the way they operate, their strengths and different ways of managing information.
