DRC, JHCO implement ‘Informal Learning Programme’

AMMAN — The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) and Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) signed a cooperation agreement to implement the informal learning programme at Tarabot Community Centre — one of JHCO’s projects in east Amman, as part of a community support project, funded by the Danish government. 

The informal learning programme’s target is to reach 2,515 beneficiaries from all age groups; men, women and children through various tailored activities in order to raise the knowledge and capabilities of the beneficiaries through training courses, according to a JHCO statement.

The informal learning programme includes art technique, puppet making, handcrafts, health awareness sessions, recycling, mobile photography, fabric art, shadow theatre, planetarium shows and science experiences.

JHCO Assistant Secretary General Mohammad Nasser Kilani said: “The main objective of Tarabot Community Centre is derived from the Arabic meaning of Tarabot, which is to bring together and create a bond between the people who have access to these services at the centre. The centre has become a safe space and an outlet for the surrounding area residence, whether refugees, Jordanians or all nationalities.”

“We are very pleased with the continued cooperation with JHCO and look forward to jointly provide high quality services to the people living in the surroundings of the very well established Tarabot centre during this difficult Covid-19 period,” Stef Deutekom, DRC’s country director stated.

Tarabot Community Centre, was established in 2015 to provide its numerous services to the East Amman area residents free of charge and to all groups in society from all nationalities, with a special focus on Syrian refugees, the statement said.
