AMMAN — The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) in Jordan on Wednesday received a donation of 10,000 euros from students of Sorghvliet School in the Netherlands to support young Syrians in the Kingdom.
Speaking at a ceremony held at the Dutch embassy to receive the donation, Ambassador Paul van den IJssel commended the students for launching the initiative by themselves to help people who are thousands of miles away.
The money will be allocated to support the youth centre at NRC to provide courses in some professions, in addition to language and mathematics courses.
The 500 students, between the ages of 12 and 17, organised a bicycle race to collect the money and asked their families and friends to help them.
