EU conducts Monitoring and Evaluation training for gov’t officials

AMMAN — The European Union in Jordan, via its M&ETA Jo2025 project, has implemented a number of capacity building training courses in the field of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) since the start of November, an EU statement said.

“Well designed M&E systems are of enormous value to governments and are a cornerstone of government reform efforts,” said M&ETA project’s M&E Key Expert Tony Gething, adding “they support effective decision-making and provide important information about the impact of government efforts on peoples’ lives.”

The certified trainings, which have been attended by 115 government officials so far, are delivered by the Paris-based think-tank, EuropaNova, in collaboration with some of the world’s top business schools and international experts.

“M&E helps governments know if it is on track in delivering on its commitments to citizens and whether the expected results have been achieved. It also means taking action to get things back on track when problems arise. Good M&E is in everyone’s interest,” said EU Ambassador to Jordan Andrea Matteo Fontana.
