Fakhoury discusses economic reform measures with IMF mission chief

AMMAN — Planning Minister Imad Fakhoury on Sunday said donor countries and friendly nations are greatly needed to help Jordan maintain its development achievements.

At a meeting with International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission Chief Kristina Kostial as part of the regular visit for the sixth revision of Jordan’s economic reform programme, Fakhoury said the “Jordan 2025” blueprint and the development programmes that will come from it will include the required reforms to safeguard current fiscal stability.

The vision will also ensure more self-reliance, enhanced productivity and competitiveness in Jordan’s economy, a Planning Ministry statement quoted him as saying.   

The blueprint, Fakhoury added, will be implemented through three-year-long development programmes that address national priorities.

Jordan also gives priority to reform measures that will increase sustainable economic growth, especially those aimed at improving the investment climate, and attracting foreign and local investors, the minister said.

He also highlighted the Jordan Response Plan 2015, which deals with the impact of the Syrian refugee crisis, noting that the priorities and projects outlined in it will be included in the next development programme.

The $2.9 billion plan covers a programme of targeted interventions to support refugees, host communities and the government.
