AMMAN — Senate President Faisal Fayez on Thursday called on the EU to support Jordan economically, highlighting regional events that have affected Jordanians' living conditions.

Chairing a meeting between the Senate’s Jordan-EU Friendship Committee and EU Ambassador to Jordan Maria Hadjitheodosiou, Fayez urged the international community to shoulder its responsibilities by supporting Jordan in fulfilling its "vital regional role", the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. He also voiced appreciation for the EU Parliment's majority vote to provide the Kingdom with a 500-euro soft loan.

Lauding the Kingdom's efforts to maintain regional peace and stability, Hadjitheodosiou expressed the EU's keenness to strengthen its relations with Jordan in various fields. During the meeting, she also highlighted that the EU embassy is mainly working on supporting the economy's stability, human development and refugees, as well as addressing climate-related challenges.
