Fayez talks ties with Romanian PM on official visit

AMMAN  — Senate President Faisal Fayez and Romanian Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca on Thursday emphasised the importance of strengthening and developing bilateral relations across various fields, and working together to serve the interests of both countries and their people.

Fayez discussions with the Romanian prime minister were part of an official visit to Romania at the invitation of the President of the Romanian Senate, Alina Gorghiu. 

The visit covered means of enhancing bilateral relations and the current state of the region, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. 

Fayez highlighted the depth of Jordanian-Romanian relations and keenness to develop them in various fields, and expressed the country’s interest in activating bilateral agreements, increasing trade exchange, economic and investment cooperation with Romania.

He also praised Romania's supportive positions towards Jordan, particularly in developing Jordan's relations with EU countries, especially in economic and political aspects. He urged Romania to play a greater role within the EU to increase the union's assistance to Jordan, increase investments and enhance economic partnership.

He also expressed appreciation for Romania's supportive positions towards the Kingdom's efforts to achieve a just and comprehensive peace to the Palestinian cause based on the two-state solution and international legitimacy resolutions. He also praised Romania's support for the Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

He also praised Romania's commitment to supplying wheat to Jordan and called for the Romanian market to be opened to Jordanian agricultural products, phosphates, pharmaceutical industries and Dead Sea products. 

The Senate president also encouraged the Romanian private sector to import Jordanian products and export them to Eastern European markets. Additionally, he called for facilitating the entry of Jordanians into Romania.

The Romanian prime minister expressed his country's appreciation for Jordan's efforts to achieve regional security and through dialogue and political solutions.

He also emphasised his country's constant consultation with Jordan on various issues of common interest. 

“Romania is keen to expand the horizons of bilateral cooperation with Jordan and to continue taking all necessary steps to deepen bilateral ties, including those between Jordan and the EU, in all fields,” he said.
