AMMAN — Amman Mayor Youssef Shawarbeh on Saturday said that the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) will exempt the traders who were affected during the recent heavy rain that flooded downtown Amman from certain registration licence and waste fees for two years.

Shawarbeh stressed that he would submit the recommendation to the GAM council for approval and then submit the decision to the prime minister for urgent approval.

Shawarbeh made his remarks during an inspection tour on Saturday evening to downtown Amman, accompanied by Amman Chamber of Commerce Chairman Khalil Haj Tawfiq.

During the inspection tour, Shawarbeh was briefed on the extent of the damage, and listened to the traders’ demands and proposals, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
