AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Tuesday received President of the United Nations General Assembly Csaba Korosi.

Safadi and Korosi emphasised the importance of cooperation between the Kingdom and the UN, and its various institutions, in development and humanitarian fields, especially regarding efforts to provide refugees with a decent living, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.

Talks also went over regional issues, foremost of which was the Palestinian cause and efforts to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis.

Safadi briefed Korosi on the obstacles and challenges facing the resumption of serious and effective negotiations to achieve a just and permanent peace based on the two-state solution in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and established references.

He stressed the need for collaborative measures to halt the deterioration of the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Safadi further advocated for the resumption of productive negotiations that would renew confidence in the political process and lead the region towards a fair peace.

He underlined that the two-state solution remains the only viable path towards achieving this goal.

Safadi also acquainted Korosi with the results of Monday's consultative meeting on the crisis in Syria held in Amman, which launched a new Arab-led political path to solve the crisis and address all its humanitarian, security and political implications.
