AMMAN — Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and his Norwegian counterpart Ine Eriksen Soreide on Sunday discussed challenges facing efforts to reach a solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in light of the recent US decision recognising Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

During a telephone call, Safadi acquainted Soreide with the outcomes of the meetings of the micro-Arab ministerial team on Jerusalem that were held on Saturday in Amman, which rejected the US  decision, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

He also highlighted the importance for the international community to recognise a Palestinian state within the pre-1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Both ministers agreed on resorting to political means to launch effective efforts to resolve the conflict based on the two-state solution and international references, while stressing the importance of peace that is highly needed at the regional and international levels. Safadi commended Norway’s stances and its efforts to realise just peace in the region.
