AMMAN — Statistics from the Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI) showed that the foodstuff sector in the Kingdom has an approximated 52 per cent market share, making it one of the key sectors contributing to food security.

Data also revealed that the foodstuff manufacturers and producers sector comprises 15 per cent of Jordan’s 2,654 industrial enterprises, providing some 50,000 jobs with a capital of JD643 million.

The foodstuff sector’s exports last year were valued at JD531 million compared with JD525 million in 2017. Jordan exports to 70 countries worldwide, according to a statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

JCI President Fathi Jaghbir stated on Saturday that the value of the food sector comes from the manufacturers’ commitment to international standards of quality and production, Petra reported.
