Freihat, Kuwaiti official sign military protocol

AMMAN — Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Freihat on Wednesday signed a protocol with Undersecretary of the Kuwaiti National Guard Lt. Gen. Hashim Al Rifai, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Thursday.

The protocol aims at boosting cooperation and coordination between the two armies in training and security fields. Rifai said that the Kuwaiti National Guard works in accordance with the Strategic Goals’ Document 2020, which entails improving military work and benefiting from the expertise of military institutions in neighbouring countries.

For his part, Freihat voiced Jordan’s support for the protocol, highlighting the historical ties between Jordan and Kuwait. Also on Wednesday, Freihat met separately with Chief of General Staff of Kuwait Armed Forces Lt. Gen. Mohammed Al Khadher to discuss issues of mutual interest.
