AMMAN — The government on Saturday decided to raise the prices of unleaded 90-octane gasoline and unleaded 95-octane gasoline by JD0.020 per as of Sunday April 1, while it kept prices of kerosene and gas cylinders unchanged.

A government committee meets monthly to adjust fuel prices to correspond with changes in oil prices on the international market.

The price of diesel will increase to JD0.570 per litre, instead of JD0.560. The committee also decided to keep the price of kerosene unchanged at JD0.520 per litre, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Regarding gas cylinders, the panel said it maintained the local price at JD7 despite the increase of its international price to JD8.18.

The committee based its decision on the global price index, which showed that the cost of a barrel of crude Brent oil went up to $70 in March, Petra reported.

The monthly pricing mechanism included the selling price of natural gas to industries which amounted to JD7, 520 per million British thermal Units (Btu) for next October. The selling price of natural gas produced from Risha Gas Plant was determined at JD3, 980 per million Btu.

All derivatives are subject to a JD0.006 stamp fee, in addition to other fixed fees related to transport, storage and insurance.
