‘Gov’t seeks transparency in appointing senior Trade Ministry positions’

AMMAN — Four senior posts currently vacant at the Industry, Trade and Supply Ministry are expected to be filled in the next few weeks, a government official said.

The official, who requested anonymity, told The Jordan Times recently that the vacant posts are for ministry’s secretary general, chief executive officer of the Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO), director general of the Jordan Industrial Estates Corporation, and the general comptroller of companies.

The Prime Ministry posted an advertisement on its website last week for candidates to apply for two posts: JEDCO CEO and general comptroller of companies.

The deadline to apply for the two posts is this Sunday.

The advertisement, the source said, is part of the government policy to guarantee transparency for appointments in senior public service posts.

The post of the ministry’s secretary general became vacant after Maha Ali, who held the job for five years, was appointed as minister earlier this month.

“All these posts will be filled in the next few weeks as there are several candidates for each position,” the official noted.
