Gov't to end negotiations with consortium over Red-Dead project

By Petra - Aug 12,2015 - Last updated at Aug 12,2015

AMMAN — The Council of Ministers on Wednesday decided to end negotiations with a consortium of international companies that applied to implement a tender of engineering and consultation services for the Red Sea-Dead Sea Water Conveyance project.

The decision was taken due to the fact that prices offered by the consortium were high compared to similar tenders and the companies refused to reduce the prices.

In the same meeting, the Cabinet accepted the central tender of the railway connection project between Sheidiyeh and Wadi Al Yutom reloading station.

The project, funded by the Saudi Development Fund, stipulates establishing a 23-kilometre railway connection at Sheidiyeh at a cost of JD30 million, and establishing a JD14 million reloading station at Wadi Al Yutom.
