AMMAN — The Global Smart Energy Federation (GSEF) adopted Jordan to host a training centre on smart grids and research and development. Secretary-General of the Arab Renewable Energy Commission (AREC) Mohammad Taani was appointed as GSEF's honourary ambassador for the Middle East, North Africa and Arab countries, according to an AREC statement released on Saturday, cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Taani was chosen to represent GSEF in all international, regional and Arab forums, alongside four other individuals, as ambassadors of honour. Jordan represents a strategic and distinct link in terms of geographic location, and is considered a central hub for electrical inter-connectivity for all Arab countries, Europe and the rest of the world.
