AMMAN — Agriculture Minister Khaled Hneifat is participating in the Food and Agriculture Organisation’s (FAO) 40th Conference, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Monday.

The six-day conference, held in Rome, aims to review the FAO’s action plan for the next two years and policies to be implemented related to food security and agricultural development.

Delivering a speech on behalf of Jordan, Hneifat stressed that the Jordanian government recognises agriculture as a main pillar of development with all of its economic, social and environmental dimensions.

He noted that the Kingdom is the second poorest country in water resources in the world and highlighted the impact of regional turmoil, foremost of which is the Syrian crisis.
