House friendship committee, Mexican ambassador discuss cooperation

AMMAN — Head of the Jordanian Parliamentary Friendship Committee with North American Countries, MP Khair Abu Sa'ilik, on Wednesday met with Mexico's Ambassador to Jordan Roberto Rodriguez Hernandez. Discussions covered ways to advance Jordanian-Mexican relations in the economic, political, cultural and tourism fields.
Abu Sa'ilik stressed the importance of the Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, highlighting His Majesty King Abdullah's unwavering stances towards the Palestinian cause.
He also pointed to the impact of the arrival of refugees on Jordan’s economy. Hernandez said Jordan is a "safe and stable" country due to the King's leadership. He noted that the Kingdom is a "gateway” for trade to the Middle East.
On the Palestinian cause, Hernandez said his country supports the two-state solution for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. He lauded the Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
The ambassador also called for strengthening collaboration between Jordanian and Mexican universities, which would include programmes to teach Spanish in Jordan and Arabic in Mexico.
