AMMAN — Access to a modern educational system is fundamental for a prosperous future, Lower House Speaker Abdulkarim Dughmi said, highlighting the necessity of recognising challenges and scaling up efforts to overcome them.

Speaking during the opening ceremony of a Bahrain-held conference to launch a document on Education Development in the Arab world under the slogan "Bahrain the gateway to the development of education in the Arab world", Dughmi said that an effective education system is “vital” for enhancing human capabilities.

He called for investing in education and providing an incubating environment, integrating the latest educational methods and embracing curricula that “stimulates deep and critical thinking and promotes a culture of diversity and dialogue”.

The conference was organised by the Arab Parliament (AP) and the Bahraini Ministry of Education, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Highlighting the Kingdom's efforts to ensure the right to education, he said that under the Jordanian Constitution, primary education is mandatory, noting that education is free in government schools.
