House Speaker, Egypt ambassador talk ties

AMMAN — Lower House Speaker Abdulmunim Oddat on Monday met with Egyptian Ambassador to Jordan Sherif Kamel and discussed means of bolstering bilateral relations in all fields, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During the meeting, Oddat stressed that common issues and interests necessitate maintaining coordination and consultation in service of the causes of Arab and Islamic nations.

He pointed to the importance of building on the tripartite summit that brought together His Majesty King Abdullah with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al Kadhimi, pointing to the importance of activating agreements to advance economic relations, especially in the field of energy, electrical connectivity and trade.

He added that the Jordanian, Egyptian and Iraqi projects are of great vitality in light of the difficult circumstances in the region at various political and economic levels, highlighting that the said cooperation is “a gateway to more forms of Arab cooperation and solidarity”.

He also noted that the level of effective coordination and consultation between Jordan and Egypt came as a result of the wise policies consistent with the leaderships of the two countries,.

Oddat commended the durability of the Jordanian and Egyptian positions in support of Palestinians’ right to establish an independent state.

For his part, the Egyptian ambassador affirmed his country's keenness to enhance Jordanian-Egyptian joint work, lauding the depth of relations that bind the two countries and their people.
