AMMAN — India recently handed over a cheque of $0.5 million to the United Nations in New York for the Emergency Response Fund for Jordan, an embassy statement said Monday.

The contribution is part of the funds pledged by India at the donors conference held in Kuwait in January, 2014.

The statement said India is committed to assisting and working with Jordan, highlighting its understanding of the heavy toll that the refugee plight has had on the Kingdom and its resources.
