AMMAN — Royal Court Chief Youssef Issawi on Wednesday inaugurated the Sheikh Hussein Sports Club in Irbid Governorate, in fulfilment of Royal Directives.

The building was implemented with the aim of improving athletic facilities in the Kingdom’s northern Ghor region and encouraging the youth to engage in sports, in addition to other cultural, social and environmental activities, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The new facility boasts a fully equipped gym, and a number of administrative offices and conference rooms.

“A number of Royal Initiatives has been implemented in northern Ghor over the past years in the sports, youth, health and education sectors,” Issawi said, also highlighting support from various charities and the establishment of residential units for underprivileged families.

Royal Initiatives in northern Ghor have included building a multipurpose gym, football field, swimming pool and various headquarters for sports clubs, Issawi said.

He also highlighted the expansion and rehabilitation of the Muath Bin Jabal and Abu Obeida hospitals, the creation of two schools and the renovation of seven other schools.

During the inauguration ceremony, Issawi pointed to the Royal Court and other public institutions’ keenness on following up on the implementation of Royal Initiatives to ensure that they achieve their development and humanitarian goals.
