AMMAN — The Cabinet on Wednesday decided to exempt certain items used in the treatment of diabetes from sales tax.
The decision, taken during a Cabinet meeting, is in line with Article 22 of the Sales Tax Law which grants the Council of Ministers the right to partially or completely exempt any item or service from tax in certain cases, and upon the recommendation of the concerned minister.
Also on Wednesday, the Cabinet approved the by-law governing the executive formation of government institutions for the 2015 fiscal year, which includes the creation of 6,590 vacancies at public agencies with the majority of them in the education and health ministries — 2,400 and 1,507 respectively.
