JAF announces updated strategy to counter extremism

AMMAN — The Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) on Tuesday announced an updated strategy to counter extremist ideology, under the directives of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Freihat, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

A JAF statement indicated that the strategy aims at safeguarding the armed forces’ personnel and taking proactive measures, which came in line with several state institutions and security agencies to fight extremism and terrorism.

Freihat on Tuesday also visited the Royal Artillery Unit, where he listened to a briefing on the tasks, duties and programmes of the unit.

Freihat met with unit’s personnel and conveyed to them His Majesty King Abdullah’s, the Supreme Commander of the JAF, greetings and pride in their “advanced level and high morale”, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported
