AMMAN — Jordan Customs Department (JCD) personnel at the Jaber border crossing, in cooperation with security departments and Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) personnel, have foiled two attempts to smuggle 73,500 Captagon pills in two separate cases.

In the first case, the JCD personnel at the border crossing thwarted the smuggling of 38,500 Captagon pills carried by a passenger arriving from a neighbouring country, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported, citing a JCD statement issued on Tuesday.

The JCD noted that the suspect was searched before customs personnel found the narcotics in his possession.

In another case at the same border crossing, customs agents seized 35,000 Captagon pills, which were hidden in a passenger bus coming from a neighbouring country.

The JCD noted that its agents at all of Jordan's border customs centres, in cooperation with counterparts from other security agencies and the AND, work relentlessly to combat the smuggling of narcotics into the Kingdom, as part of their duties to protect citizens and the economy.
