Jobless protesters block Tafileh highway

By Petra - Sep 14,2014 - Last updated at Sep 14,2014

TAFILEH — Twenty unemployed individuals blocked a main road in Tafileh with burning tyres on Sunday, demanding that they be appointed to jobs with the Tafileh Municipality.

Protesters shattered the windows of several offices at municipality headquarters, stressing that they will continue to demonstrate until they get jobs.

Police managed to open the road although traffic congestion delayed their efforts.

Protesters called on the government to provide them with jobs, especially since some of them support large families, noting that although there are large companies and factories in Tafileh, work opportunities remain minimal.
