AMMAN — In celebration of International Women’s Day and Mother’s Day, the Jordan Breast Cancer Programme, led by the King Hussein Cancer Foundation with support from the MSD for Mothers global initiative, launched a campaign for March titled “You are life” to appreciate the great role of women and to emphasise the importance of their health.

The campaign comes within the Integrated Social Behavioral Change Project for Women’s Health, in collaboration with the Jordanian health sector’s partners and providers, according to a statement from the Jordan Breast Cancer Programme.

The campaign aims to raise awareness about women’s health issues, especially those related to breast cancer, family planning and breastfeeding, by providing health education, counselling and health services.

It also includes breast cancer early detection services particularly for underprivileged women including Jordanians and refugees.

Director of Jordan Breast Cancer Programme Reem Al Ajlouni said that the campaign is a continuation of the programme’s efforts in prevention, awareness-raising, health education and provision of breast cancer early detection services.

As part of the campaign lectures, distribution of educational materials, support groups, and other community outreach activities will be held across Jordan, particularly in the governorates of Irbid, Zarqa and Aqaba.

Director of External Affairs at MSD regional office Hassan Bibi said that MSD for Mothers is a global initiative that aims to eliminate deaths from preventable health causes.

“We are pleased to see the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and the Jordan Breast Cancer Programme promoting the concepts of women’s health and increase the uptake of health services through this campaign,” Bibi said.
