AMMAN — Jordan on Sunday strongly condemned the two terrorist attacks on the Saudi-Yemeni border crossing and another on a government building in Sharurah, southern Saudi Arabia.

Jordan’s condemnation was expressed by Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communications Mohammad Momani, who also expressed the Kingdom’s solidarity with the families of the security officers who fell in the attacks, and its full support to Saudi Arabia in its fight against terrorism.

Saudi Press Agency (SPA) has reported that the Friday attack against the border post was carried out by six Saudi nationals, including one who is wanted by the interior ministry.

Saudi Interior Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Mansour Al Turki was quoted by SPA as saying that “a security patrol came under fire from assailants, resulted in the martyrdom of its commander, which required responding to the source of fire similarly”.

“The exchange of fire resulted in the killing of three of the attackers, wounded one of them and arrested another,” the spokesman added.

Two suspected Al Qaeda militants were reported as blowing themselves up early Saturday after being surrounded inside a government building in southern Saudi Arabia, following the attack on a border post with Yemen.

News reports said the militants blew themselves up in the Sharurah area near the Wadia border post with Yemen.
