AMMAN — The Jordan Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund (JREEEF) has won the Middle East Solar Industry Association award for the “Solar Roof-Top Project of the year” category, for implementing a roof-top school heating project in the Kingdom under a Royal initiative, Fund Executive Director Rasmi Hamzeh said on Sunday.

Hamzeh expressed the fund’s pride in implementing an initiative by His Majesty King Abdullah that aims to provide heating for schools, voicing his appreciation for the international business organisations’ recognition of the fund’s efforts, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

He said that JREEEF started implementing the project last year by choosing 100 schools in partnership across the Kingdom, noting that the initiative will extend for five to seven years to cover 2,600 schools nationwide.

The recognition ceremony will take place on Wednesday, according to the association’s website www.mesia.com.
