AMMAN — The 14th meeting of the Jordan-EU Association Council is scheduled to be held on Thursday in the Dead Sea area, with a focus on bilateral relations and political issues, the Foreign Ministry said on Monday.

The meeting, which will be held for the first time in an EU's Southern Neighbourhood country, will be chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission Josep Borrell. European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi will also take part in the meeting, along with a number of EU foreign ministers and Jordanian officials, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The event will mark “another milestone” in the 20-year-long partnership between Jordan and the EU. The session will discuss the implementation of the EU-Jordan Association Agreement and the new 2021-2027 EU-Jordan Partnership Priorities, which the Association Council is expected to adopt, the ministry said.
