AMMAN — Several government officials, business owners and companies from Jordan and Iraq are planned to convene at an economic forum on June 20 to discuss commercial, industrial and investment relations between the two countries.

Organised by the Iraqi Business Council (IBC) in Jordan, the two-day forum will be held in Amman under the theme "Building bridges of joint prosperity", with a focus on industry, finance, ICT, contracting, construction, real estate, energy and mining, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Sunday.

During a press conference, IBC Vice Chairman Saad Naji said that the forum is held to serve common interests, ensure joint partnerships are established and capitalise on available opportunities in both countries, stressing the council's commitment to building upon signed agreements.

Naji added that the event will include seminars on investment, industry, housing, financing and creating opportunities for banks, finance companies and Jordanian exchange companies to enter the Iraqi markets, in addition to discussions over recent business-related studies and research.

An exhibition is also scheduled to be held for businesses to showcase their products and services to industry experts and explore new distribution opportunities to help boost trade between the two countries.

IBC was established in Jordan in 2006 to serve as a platform for businesspeople to share their views, exchange ideas and information, and create employment opportunities through trade and social missions.
