‘Jordan supports Lebanon in face of challenges’

AMMAN — Jordan is ready to support Lebanon in the face of the various challenges it is currently facing, His Majesty King Abdullah said Tuesday.
In a telephone call with Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam, the King discussed the challenges facing the region and efforts to address them, especially in light of the spread of violence and extremism.
Salam acquainted the King with the latest developments in his country.
He praised Jordan’s efforts in promoting interfaith dialogue and rejecting extremism by hosting conferences focusing on spreading the values of tolerance, protecting minorities and accepting diversity.
King Abdullah and the Lebanese leader expressed keenness to boost bilateral relations in the best interest of the two countries.
Discussions also covered the latest developments in the Middle East.
