AMMAN — Members of the Russian Council of the Federation and the Duma in Moscow on Wednesday evening expressed their keenness for more Jordanian-Russian cooperation in various fields.

During the televised seminar in which Jordanian Ambassador to Russia Amjad Adaileh was hosted, the members affirmed the advanced cultural, economical and political ties between the two countries.

They also voiced their appreciation for the moderate Jordanian stance in resolving Middle Eastern issues, highlighting Jordan’s efforts in fighting against terrorism.

Adaileh confirmed Jordan’s keenness on strengthening economic and political relations with Russia, highlighting the Russian stance towards Arab issues; especially the Palestinian cause based on international law.

The ambassador added that Jordan and Russia stressed the need for a comprehensive political solution to the Syrian crisis, which contributed to reducing escalation in southern Syria.

Adaileh said that the trade volume between the two countries had decreased during recent years because of the war in Syria, which resulted in closing the border crossings. He added that the reopening of the border crossings between Jordan and Syria will contribute to reviving trade movement and establishing new investments between Jordan and Russia.

The ambassador pointed out that the next stage will include a meeting for a joint governmental committee, in addition to a Russian-Jordanian business forum aimed at launching investments and boosting trade volume.
