MADINA MUNAWARA — Pilgrims from Jordan and Muslims from the 1948-territories, who went to perform the Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, will be heading back from Madina Munawara early on Sunday.
The Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Endowments set a new route for pilgrim convoys. It leads convoys from Amman to Mecca directly, and then back through Madina, cutting the journey short by two days.
Meanwhile, pilgrims get to stay in Madina for three days to rest and pray at Al Masjid an-Nabawi, the resting place of the Prophet Mohammad. All in all, the journey via the new route was shortened from 19 to 17 days, according to the Jordanian news agency, Petra.
