AMMAN — The Jordan Customs Department (JCD), in cooperation with security personnel, at Al Karamah border crossing on Sunday foiled the "largest" smuggling attempt, confiscating six million Captagon  pills, some 1,000kg, hidden inside date dough.

The drug haul was intercepted during searches carried out on two refrigerated trucks carrying non-Jordanian  plates coming from a neighbouring country, according to a JCD statement.

Some 509kg of Captagon  pills were hidden in one of the trucks and 483kg in the other, the spokesperson said, adding that both vehicles were laden with date dough.

Director General Maj. Gen. Jalal Qudah praised Customs Department field agents’ efforts and professionalism in preventing smuggling.
